Atlanta Motor Speedway

Atlanta Motor Speedway is my favorite race track, bar none! It’s the fastest track on the NASCAR circuit. The sanctioning body has mulled over instituting restrictor plates at this 1.54 mile track where speeds exceed 200 miles per hour on the straight stretches, but thankfully, it hasn’t happened yet. They tout Talladega as being the fastest track in NASCAR, and to be sure, it was, but that was before they mandated the restrictor plates back in 1988. You’ll find an interesting collection of articles covering races at Atlanta from the spring of 1999 to the spring of 2004, including the news of the times surrounding the races.
