This offering is a brief account of restrictor plate racing on the superspeedways of Daytona and Talladega, and the news of what was happening in NASCAR during that time period. It begins with the April 1998 Die hard 500 at the Talladega Superspeedway at Talladega, Alabama, and wraps up with the Winston 500 in October of 2000 at the same facility.

The following installment, Restrictor Plate Racing II, begins with the death of Dale Earnhardt Sr. at the Daytona International Speedway in February of 2001 and the stories that surround his unfortunate demise.
