Introduction
Most travelers agree the American Southwest is an outstanding destination. The scenery can't be beat and the history of the wild west is just as fascinating. We've got lofty mountains, saguaro-filled deserts, frisky rivers, rock-rimmed lakes and deep canyons - and some of the best primitive ruins in the world.
Journey with me on a sample tour of the west - through select locales in Southern California, Utah, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico. We'll hike in the Grand Canyon, paddle a wild river in Colorado, camp under the Joshua trees of California and wind through a remote slot canyon in Utah. We'll stop at places both wildly popular and seldom-seen.
